"For people who like hip-hop from the "indy-age", this is a great pick-up. Listening to this makes you wonder how rap changed to the garbage that is out now...."

"Sadly this compilation of Beyond Real's catalog of singles and album tracks suffers from bad marketing. Truth is, if the comp had been titled "Best Of DJ Spinna & Beyond Real" this worthy album might've gotten more exposure. Hey, I'm as guilty as the next guy. I hadn't even heard of this until a few years after its release! However, I 'HAD' heard and listened to several of the tracks across this double-disc during my days as an underground hip hop fan in the late 90's. For a lot of these tracks its the first time they are appearing on CD, which for me means I get to listen to them again since my vinyl days are over. I am sure this is the case for many of you out there. There is tremendous value with this product with nearly 40 underground classics, mostly blessed by the production wizardy of the best producer this side of Pete Rock, DJ Spinna. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this product and scooped it up for less than a buck. Its an injustice to call yourself a DJ Spinna fan and not own this. I gave this album a 4-rating because not everything is a gem, but there are certainly more on this than most albums simply due to the law of large numbers."
