CD Reviews

Its a New Classic!
Tristan A. Hayes | Richmond, VA USA | 02/21/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Another Cinderella Story Soundtrack is a great complement to the movie. Although the movie was a bit on the predictable style, the songs really lifted the movie to new heights.

The CD features just about every song that was in the movie except in much larger sections. The songs that were completely showcased in the movie in their full entirety are the New Classic (Live version, with both Drew Seeley, Selena Gomez singing live, one extra bonus to this song is that it is virtually the audio rip of the exact part on the movie. Additionally, it has a large portion of the instrumental portion to the New Classic), New Classic Acustic version is also on the CD, which was the portion of the movie that both Drew and Selena sung when they were doing the day chores while her guardian was away on a trip. I also believe that X-Plain it To My Heart was also fully heard in the movie (the song is only 1:15 on the soundtrack).

One of the most interesting songs in the movie, which was unfortunately heard in the first 10 minutes of the movie, as the introduction song, is the song by Selena Gomez "Tell Me Something I Dont Know", which I believe topped the Radio Disney charts for a few weeks. It is definitely one of my favorite songs on the CD because it showcases how good she can sing with the addition of a great beat and music. The movie did not do it enough justice with the little portion they showed. I would suggest searching for the music video to the song as well.

A few of the additional tracks that should be highlighted are these:

-Hurry Up and Save Me, by Tiffany Giardina, she was unfortunately not in the movie but she does have two songs on this soundtrack. This is the superior of the two songs and was also showcased briefly in the movie for a few seconds. The song perhaps fits the movie even moreso than a few of the other songs in its, Cinderella type "Hurry Up and Save Me," Im helpless type theme.

-1st Class Girl, by Marcus Paulk (who in the movie was Dustin/The Funk) and Drew Seeley. This song must be highlighted for Dustin made it a great movie and this song was definitely a great benefit for the movie. Drew Seeley and Marcus were definitely great additions in making this the most modern adaptation of Cinderelle and their attempt has not failed at all.

-On Hold 4 You, by Jane Lynch (who in the movie was Dominique Blatt, the wicked Stepmother), she actually performed this song in the movie. It actually has a nice ring to it and is quite catchy. I actually liked it. I cant really think of anything bad about it.

-Valentines Dance Tango, it is an instrumental but it sounds great for that part. Soothing and quite romantic to dance too with a partner.

Ultimately the best track is "The New Classic (Single Version)". This is the song that captured my attention to the movie and the song that I waited for the entire movie to hear. It has a great feel to it and Drew Seeley is definitely one of my favorite teen music oriented modern singer. Selena Gomez's vocals add to the song greatly and make it sound even more upbeat and smooth.

Additional Songs that sound good were, Bang a Drum, Just That Girl, and Dont Be Shy.

This one is perhaps one of the only soundtracks that I have in which I listen to more than 50% of the songs daily. Most soundtracks I get just for one keystone song, but for this one, I listen to over 85% of them. One of my favorite.

Drew, Selena, Tiffany, Marcus, and Jane make this a must have soundtrack to own for 2009"

"My kids love the music. The songs are great and the kids sing and dance in the car throughout this cd. I have four kids and roll through all the Radio Disney type music and this is one of tyhe better cds."

"My 8yr. old daughter received the CD for a Christmas gift and has played it everyday since opening it. She loves to sing and dance so this CD just adds the right music to act out the dances."
