From St. Germain?s live electronic jazz mutations, to house icons Dimitri from Paris, Gregory and DJ Deep, to the fashionable, click house sounds of I:Cube (one half of Chateau Flight) or techno innovator Laurent Garnier?who literally changed the face of the genre--Paris is standing tall, with an identity all its own amid a fickle scene of underground credibility. The cross-pollination of Afro-beat-tinged lounge, funk and soul is what has evolved most in Paris and also gives the scene an enormous level of authority.
