"These aren't your typical "field recordings", these recordings were made at a Pan-African conference in 1969. Representatives from all over the continent came together to discuss politics and express art, especially music and dance. The resulting recording is sheer joy. If you enjoy authentic African rhythms (particularly those of northwestern Africa) then you will enjoy this as well as the other 2 volumes in this series. To Western ears some of this might sound rough or repetitive, but if you relax into the rhythms, the fine raw acoustic sounds will win you over. Highly recommended."
