Previn was brilliant on this one.

"The actual movie was just so-so but the music of Andre Previn provided a filmscore which gave the movie whatever potential it may have ever realized. It's a large work and if you want a great taste of it, click on track 11. Interesting trivia on this one, Previn's second wife, Dorey, (Mia Farrow was his third! Woo-Woo!) wrote the lyrics for those tracks which required them. I'm pretty certain that this was the only significant work that they ever collaborated on. In any case, this one is a winner for classical music lovers. You'll get a mix-match of Previn's mature atonal slant plus many of his more melodius works. I thought "Honey and Rue" (With Kathleen Battle singing soprano, which I have heard her sing live) was a spectacular work and this soundtrack rates equally with that notable piece. A "must have" for your collection."

"The Andre Previn score for "Four Horsement of the Apocalypse" is great music. The romantic moments make me very nostalgic for a young lady I once knew. The music that accompanies the German soldiers entering Paris creates a vivid image of that sorry time. Overall, I love this soundtrack. The movie was overlong and tedious. Why is it that great composers produce great scores for so-so movies?"
