CD Reviews

If there were a "no stars" rating, that's what I'd choose.

"This cd is awful. It's the kind of recording that places play on St. Patrick's Day to go with their green beer and plastic Leprechaun hats. There are so many recordings of good Irish music in the world, from traditional tunes to pub favorites, that people have no excuse for buying this one. It sounds like 1940s movie credits."
If this is music, we're all doomed

"This is it! The CD you are looking for if you enjoy wasting money! I bought a copy because I looked at the list of songs and thought it looked like a collection I'd like to have. And maybe it WOULD have been a collection I would have liked to own- IF most of the music didn't sound like it was out of Disney's Lady and the Tramp, and IF there was a discernable variation in the voices of the different singers, and the tunes of the songs, and IF the singers would drop what must (surely) be fake Irish accents, and IF the recordings weren't all so blatantly lacking any facsimile of decent sound quality. This is what could truly be called a bad CD. When I listened to the first song, I began to have the ominous feeling that all was not well. Around song ten or eleven, I knew for certain that all was not well. The only songs on this CD that are halfway decent are "Whiskey in the Jar", and the last two songs (both of which are instrumentals). All the rest are cheesy imitations. Number nine had frighteningly bad violin music, whether due to the poor recording quality or the ineptitude of the violinist, I haven't figured out, and annoying voices yelling "Yea" in the background. Number twenty-one must surely be taken from a children's TV program, and the first three songs sound like they would more properly belong in "Snow White". Any true Irishman who happened upon this CD would probably figure it his duty to burn all the copies to be found. As a matter of fact, I am now beginning to suspect that since the "singers" on this CD aren't listed anywhere, they are living in constant fear of retaliation from irate buyers. I would advise you, even if you DO like to waste your money, to waste it elsewhere."
