CD Reviews

The second offering by Poland's best
Zander Haberstaft | Miami, Florida | 08/13/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Although the second full length Vader album is an incredibly short length disc, it does provide all the goods Vader has been known to produce over the years. The razor sharp guitar riffs, the gutteral vocals that could never be confused with the overdone cookie monster vocals, the metronome style drumming creates the aura that Vader has been know to conjure up over the years.

The best thing about Vader is that they took very evenly from both "old school" and "new school" so sometimes some of the riffs sound like they came from some old Thrash metal band. The tempo of songs like "Vision and the Voice" is spell binding to say the least but never boring because the structure of the song changes so frequently one has to listen closely just to keep up. While this album is just as brilliant as the prior "Ultimate Incantion", the new songs on here, few as they may be, are just enough to keep average metal fan satisfied. Vader however does occupy the realm of first generation death metal that is a little bit speedier with that snare-tap-tap-tap-very-light-on-the-cymbals drumming that is often peppered with double time thrashing parts. The vocals on the other hand are some of the genres most inoffensive.

Lastly, Vader seems to do really good covers but their cover of "Black Sabbath" is really good. Shows that even an albums that was 24 years old by this point was still influential. Recommended to Morbid Angel fans who got tired of listening to "Blessed are the Sick" for the 200th time."
