CD Reviews

A great introduction to a classic sound.

"The scope and magnitude of Unwound have long been underestimated by the naysayers that would liken them to a "light" version of Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation". They have been called noisy, unimaginative, and completely dissonant by the modern set that would have you believe Dashboard Confessional is something totally original. Any person in their right mind would be wise to ignore these folks that just don't "get" Unwound, and explore their dynamic sound themselves.Having said that, this CD comprises Unwound's 7" and 12" single history, which at this point has become quite hard to compile, were you to try to hunt the 7"s down yourself. The talent of Unwound is truly on display here, as the listener is permitted to witness the ever-evolving sound that Justin, Vern, and Sara had developed throughout their history. If you are deciding which should be your first taste of Unwound, however, I would recommend starting with, what is in my opinion their greatest album ever, "New Plastic Ideas". If however, you would like to explore the less-heard side of this epic band, give this CD a whirl. You may find that it doesn't leave your CD player....ever."
All the hits in a tidy little nugget

"an underappreciated band who have moved me in unspeakeable ways.
a so called underground favorite , yeah whatever, everytime i saw them live there was still room to move around in the modest venues. where the hell was everybody? you shoulda been packing them in like u.p.s. at christmastime .maybe thats why they broke up. nevertheless one of my top 10 bands of all time, if i can narrow it down to that . anyway im glad there was still room to see my precious unwound when they were around.just for the record, UNWOUND WE ALL STILL LOVE YOU!!!. this record is a beautiful little nugget that i treasure even as its too scratched up to listen to."
