"I really like the rich melodies and diverse mixture of influences on this CD. Like the first, "giving back the mosnter", it definitely takes you on a musical journey. The lyrics exhibit a cleverness that doesn't seem to exist in much of today's music. In fact the entire album, and underdrive generally, seems to be a celebration of styles gone by not too long ago, and makes one wax nostalgic for when pop music included many genres and ideas. It's really incredible what they are able to accomplish with a digital 4-track (I read their bio). In fact, it's almost not lo-fi in the truest sense, but only by necessity, and anyone with an ear for music can tell it should be a major-budget production but I guess the industry no longer has that type of vision. I scratch one star for a little bit of schmaltzy-ness here and there, like the r&b spoof "'salright, 'sokay" but other songs have real rock 'n roll bite, like "In Love is a Lie" and "Blood". Still others like "Till" are rich ballads. A real trip worth taking!"
