CD Reviews

A Classic

"Sure ill be the first one to review it. Ok this cd is basically a repress of both Unbroken full length Cds. "Ritual" and the genre defining "Life Love Regret" both originally released on New Age records. The 1st half of the CD is the "life Love Regret" portion, and if you have never heard it, think Slayer riffs with more coarse vocals and heavy mid tempo breakdowns. When i first got this CD about 10 years ago my friends and I were really into Hardcore at this time there was no such thing as metalcore. The first time i heard it, it blew my mind. My friends all laughed at me...ha ha ha.. it sounds like slayer ....ha ha ha... your a metalhead....ha ha ha...thats what they told me. Six months later they were asking me for a copy...ha ha ha. Metalcore as we know it today probably would not even exist if not for these guys. The second half of the CD is the "Ritual" CD. Although a solid release not nearly as innovative as the first half. It almost sounds like a totally different band. As a matter of fact almost all of Unbrokens releases were different from each other. Each one had it own distinctive music style, vocal style, and production quality. They were never very consistent in that aspect. But they did leave us with one gem. Pay the money for this CD, the first half alone is well worth the price and the original press (if u can find it) are running about $35 and up. Some years after the band broke up one of the members commited suicide. So Unbroken is officially done. R.I.P."
