CD Reviews

Blinded

"U2 has arguably still proven to challenge a lot of younger, manufactured acts all over to listen to what Pop music really is all about. Arguably, they've proven it already with the three previous hits from How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb: All Because Of You, Vertigo, and Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own. Their latest hit single, is in that category as well. City Of Blinding Lights, is a driven soulful remarkable song, and has just so much feeling that has been made into that track. It is just a really great track, and tells a remarkable story of loss, and emotion. It is a really good song, and one of U2's best.

"I would have bought this CD for the radio edit of City of Blinding Lights alone, but the inclusion of the live take of Out of Control made my decision to purchase this single an instant decision. Out of Control is my favorite U2 song, and this version I believe is better than any previous version. It is reminiscent of U2's early days, and exemplifies the unique union of heart-raising rock and meaningful lyrical message that U2 is famous for. And when you hear Bono sing, "The goal is soul!!" at the end of Out of Control, you know that the band will ensure the quality and existence of this union for quite some time."
