"A 19-20 year old D'Angelo got his first major success in 1994 as a writer/producer, on the single "U Will Know" which appeared on the Jason's Lyric soundtrack. The track featured an all-star list of R&B singers; Boyz II Men, Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat, Tevin Campbell, Christopher Williams, Silk, After 7, Brian McKnight, Portrait, H-Town, Aaron Hall, Intro, Joe, Usher, R. Kelly, Al B. Sure!, D.R.S., El DeBarge, Damion Hall, Sovory, and Tony Toni Tone. The single hit No. 5 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the year 1994. The track shows off D'Angelo's down south influences, and true love for '70s soul music. The Single also features tracks from LL Cool J, and Jamecia."
