Synopsis

Album Description
Twista silenced the critics with his 2004 release Kamikaze, which on the strength of Slow Jamz and followup scorcher Overnight Celebrity, moved 2 million units. Riding high, Twista rang in 2005 with The Day After, his 4th album on Atlantic Records. In 2006, Twista?s collaboration with Kanye West stole the show on the Mission Impossible III soundtrack. Now after a full decade of global prominence, Twista is unleashing album 10 years in the making: Adrenaline Rush 2007. Make no mistake, 2007 is a statement piece. It provides the canvas for Twista?s broad musical palate, born of his mature understanding of, and dedication to, hip-hop. Adrenaline Rush 2007 spans the gap aptly, ranging from the requisite radio fare to unexpectedly sinister, savage spit-fests Trappers? Delight with Jazze Pha and Cee-Lo is an overt nod to the seminal Sugarhill Gang single of 1979. Its playful melody smacks of the essence of Slow Jamz. Lead single Give It Up pairs Twista with Pharrell; set to Skateboard P?s uniquely whimsical production, the two woo women of all colors.

"Twista came out in Chicago in the early 90's with several interesting albums including Adrenaline Rush from 1997, which is the reason why this album is named like it is. Twista remarkably fast flow was listed in Guinness Book of Records as the fastest in the world, a record he later lost but in mainstream he is still the fastest rapper and it works excellent for funny cameos on other artists albums and that's what he's mostly famous for. However, in 2003 Twista appeared on Kanye Wests's #1 single "Slow Jamz" and completely stole the show with his rapid tongue delivery, West also produced another song for Twista called "Overnight Celebrity" #6 and when his album Kamikaze was released that year there was more interest for Twista then ever before, he also appeared on songs by R. Kelly, Faith Evans and Anthony Hamilton and Twista had successfully became integrated into the A list of Rap artists. Personally I think he works best with commercial Hip Hop songs with alot of swagger, not so much the darker hardcore songs. In the recent few years I heard a bit less of him and his album The Day After wasn't too hot, but his work on Bone Thug-n-Harmony's album was good and he'll be touring with them aswell. My expectations on "Adrenaline Rush 2007" would be more hit potential, hopefully some really good productions to make that possible. How does this one measure up? Read on to find out.

This album got everything I was hoping it wouldn't have. That is the usual annoying songs from mainstream Hip Hop these days. Plenty of songs about his "street credability" (No Pistols, I Aint That N*gga, Seven Day Hustle, Charged, Trouble) Women songs with very explicit lyrics (Say, Say, Pimp Like Me, Love Rehab with R. Kelly) Club songs like (Wrist Stay Rocky, Whip Game with Lil Wayne and Creep with T-Pain) The R. Kelly doesn't sound like everything else here but, but it sounds like something better suited for his last album cause Twista sound more like a guest artist then everything else. On the "Come Out" Twista's voice was slowed down and he's rapping in slow motion, diffrent but not too cool. The same tecnique is used on Whip Game and Wrist Stay Rocky but only as the hook. The Neptunes song "Give It Up" is b-grade club song and sound like the typical lazy Neptune song these days. The standout is however "Ain't No Hoes" with really strong smooth production and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony appearing, it reminds me of a song from their last album Strength & Loyalty called "C-Town". It's about not messing with them.

Overall, We get more of the same and it ends up sounding like almost every other Hip Hop album these days, without a real album concept, no vision and more of the usual themes (streets, women, clubs). I'm also dissapointed at the production that I find quite boring. Very Few hits singles for radio actually but instead we get some bad collaborations with R. Kelly, Lil Wayne and T-Pain (only Snoop was missing to make this a perfect 10!) Some songs sound like 1993 others with that annoying slow down voice and far too many explicit songs dealing with the usual stuff. Don't get me wrong I like Twista and for that reason I was hoping for something better cause he's one of a kind and deserved a better fortune that he got. Unfortunately this isn't the case with this album and I would only recommend it to die hard Twista fans."

"Twista was one of my hands down favorite artists ever since the original "Adrenaline Rush". I nearly melted that disk in my old Sony CD Player and have since bought AT LEAST 4 new copies of that album (I tend to lose CDs).

Unfortunately, ever since the original A.R. Twista's albums have gotten worse and worse (except for Mobstability which wasn't a solo effort). They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I must be insane because I keep buying Twista's CDs expecting tight beats and his unique flows - instead I get watered-down beats and flows that are mediocre at best.

I hope his next effort is even half the CD that the original Adrenaline Rush was, this one wasn't even a tenth. If I lose this CD - I'm definitely NOT buying another.

"Twista's (A.K.A. Carl Terrell Mitchell) seventh solo album is "Adrenaline Rush 2007". Over the years I have enjoyed a number of Twista's albums and remember how slept on he was prior to "Kamikaze". The original "Adrenaline Rush" was a great album. Maybe Twista was looking to recapture that release. Times have changed though, and their is really nothing special about this release - I would like to see Twista do some more work with producer The Legendary Traxster - his presence is missed. Twista's last album "The Day After" - was full of love ballads to the ladies, and featured numerous guest appearances. This release is different Twista's getting "Charged" (started good, went nowhere) off Scarface getting blasted off the ledge, but that raw hunger he had seems to be gone. Toxic produced "Creep Fast" with T-Pain is a decent track, as is Twista's collaboration with Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony on "Ain't Noe Hoes". Track's like "Say Say" feat. Cee-Lo, Jazze Pha, Big Zak & "Love Rehab" feat. R Kelly are borderline corny, and don't touch Twista's past work, while the Neptunes provide very some monotonous production on "Give It Up". Production in general which mostly comes from Cuzzo & Toxic is below average. Easy to fast forward through this release, hopefully his next album is better."
