CD Reviews

Dark Techno/House gives those trancy NYC club effects!
09/23/1998
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Peter Rauhofer spins the craziest club music I've heard mixed on a CD in a long time. After borrowing this CD from a girlfriend in March, she purchased another copy for me a few months later in May. Perhaps so I'd give hers back... This CD boasts fourteen bassy house/techno tracks - all of which are still worth listening to now. I especially love to blast Track 5 (K-Hole) and Track 6 (Goosebumps) in my car while I'm cruizing a highway. When I hear that crazy "Lula" I start dancing and speeding all at once! Even the popular Drama acts as a great intro to set the mood for the CD. If you have ever been to the Tunnel or Twilo on 27th in NYC, and you flipped over the music from Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez there, then you will absolutely die when you play Twist this Pussy. Great for DJ's and house parties as well, ya' know... In a word: AWESOME."
Just OK, not outstanding...

"I guess I didn't like this CD as much as some others. Maybe it's just not my brand of techno-dance music. It wasn't bad, but only a couple of the songs grabbed my interest much."
Thumpin' House with a Dash of Techno Flava!

""Twist This ...," a mix CD by Peter Rauhofer of Club 69, isn't sure if it wants to be a house CD or a techno compilation, so it dabbles with both genres, resulting in a solid groove that doesn't disappoint. Peter gets the party started with the disco stomper "Drama," and takes us through a journey of synth bleeps, pulsating drums, and some vocals. Key tracks of note are the infectious "K Hole" by Sizequeen, the housed-up "Get This" by Superchumbo, and Yohan Square's "Love of Life." This mix isn't my favorite from the Twisted label, and it falls a bit short of the greatness of Volume 2, but those who like their dance music a cross between house, techno and a bit of tribal will find this CD purrfect!"
