Synopsis

Album Description
Watch out, 'The First Phase', the new album by Troubleman aka Mark Pritchard is here. Alongside Tom "The Jedi" Middleton, Mark was one half of legendary 90s electronic acts Global Communication and the Jedi Knights yet with his best selling debut album 'Time Out Of Mind' released to great acclaim last year (second in Gilles Peterson's Radio 1 Worldwide Awards 2004), right now, it's all about only one man: Troubleman. A collection of new exclusives, hard-to-find remixes and early tracks, 'The First Phase' shows the development of Mark's inimitable Troubleman style. It's not hard to see why his effortless blend of hip-hop, funk, soul, drum 'n' bass, electro, easy listening, reggae and Detroit techno has won him fans as diverse as Kenny Dope, Carl Craig, Jazzy Jeff, Seiji, Zed Bias and Gilles Peterson. 'The First Phase' gathers together four new exclusive tracks produced by Mark since 'Time Out Of Mind' was released, plus six formative early Troubleman cuts and Mark Pritchard remixes previously only ever released on LTD 12" runs and now available for the first time together on CD. You'll be hard pressed to find a more diverse and eclectic mix of upfront electronica and future jazz in this part of the galaxy.

CD Reviews

Another Excellent Comp from Mr. Pritchard

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This 'album' is really several of the first Troubleman singles released on CD for the first time, plus several remixes and a couple of new tracks. This sound represents more of the 'broken beat' sound that Mark debuted with on Farout. Personally, I prefer it to the more Latin influenced points on 'Time Out of Mind' but that's only opinion. This is definitely worth your import dollars, as it contains Mark's classic collaborative remix of Stereo People with miss Kirtsy Hawkshaw on vocals, ace."
