CD Reviews

This is NOT Triumph's worst album...
11/23/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Not sure what the reviewers who call this Triumph's worst album are talking about. This is a pretty solid album. Granted, it marked the beginning of Triumph's more commercialized sounding albums, but sounds more original than Thunder Seven, which really isn't a bad album, either. World Of Fantasy sounds at times like Styx, but is a great song in its own right. Check out the lyrics. I also like Too Much Thinking and why some people don't like Gil Moore's vocals are beyond me. He's a good singer, although maybe not the most original sounding. What I like best about Triumph albums is the trade off between Gil and Rik taking vocal duties. Gives the albums variety and shows more dimension to this band than just the Rik-vocaled tracks the radio tends to play. All the Triumph albums are good in their own right, but if I had to rank it against the rest of their catalog, I'd probably make it number three behind Allied Forces and Just A Game (the best overall studio record)."
A VERY GOOD Triumph record

"This is very good Triumph record, it deserves a good rating. Too Much Thinking kicks the album off on a good note, the dialogue at the beginning and end of the song is cool sounding. It then moves into A World Of Fantasy which was a good radio song upon it's release. A Miner Prelude / All The Way is one of the stronger tracks on this LP, it Rocks. Battle Cry is probably a underated song on this LP, I feel this is a good song with good lyrics. Overture / Never Surrender is the highpoint of this LP, good lyrics with a positive message, Classic Triumph for sure. When The Lights Go Down is another good tune, it shows what a good band they really are. Writing On The Wall / Epilogue ends this album on a good note. This is not their best effort, but it does have many good moments on it and is better than some of the LP's they released."

"This is a very good Triumph record. It rocks hard but also has more melodic tunes. The production is good and the playing is solid. Rik Emmitt is in fine form and on the title track (My personal favorite), he is flawless. A world of fantasy is also a really strong song, and the Ronald Reagan intro to Too much thinking is just too cool. My only complaint is the record is too short, only 8 songs. I would still say this is a must have."
