Another Gem

"The biggest difference between Trillion's debut and Clear Approach is lead vocal was changed to Thom Griffin. Thom's vocal is softer and mellower than Fergie so the hard and prog edge was a bit off and more pop rock and melodic side of the band emerged. If you like 80's melodic rock giants such as Foreigner, Survivor, and Journey you can easily get into this one. Their dynamism has been excellently controlled and refined as you see in Make It Last Forever, Promises and Cities. They're long forgotten but former members such as Fergie Fredericksen and Thom Griffin will never let it continue. Both of Trillion singers will be back as they participate in grand rock project Mecca coming out really soon. And Thom Griffin will be back with his first solo Ambition."
Crown Jewel Of The 1980 Progressive Hard Rock

"Trillion is the obscure progressive rock band which made two excellent albums during their short activity during 1978 and 1980 but very unfortunate for not being able to score a huge hit like their contemporaries such as Boston, Toto, Styx, Foreigner, Journey and Survivor. Their debut featured high-toned vocalist Fergie Frederiksen known as Toto vocalist in Isolation album. After Fergie left the band, Thom Griffin took the lead. His voice is not as high-toned as Fergie but wide-ranged vocal really fit for power ballad as shown in the title track CLEAR APPROACH. MAKE TIME FOR LOVE shows the catchy opener while MAKE IT LAST FOREVER signifies their progressive rock roots. CITIES is dynamic power pop STYX and SURVIVOR might be well capable of. Trillion works had been long forgotten until Japanese music label uncovered them as Toto vocalist of Isolation Fergie Frederiksen's earlier work. Since the reissue of 1997 music fans young and old can finally reach such magnificent rock masterpiece and became spread world wide because of recent melodic rock market in Europe and Japan. If you like power pop and melodic rock during late 1970s to early 1980s represented by masterpieces by TOTO, FOREIGNER, JOURNEY, REO SPEEDWAGON, BOSTON, STYX and SURVIVOR, this work is essential and you will definitely love it. Or if you like Mecca having both the first and second vocalist of Trillion and recent Jim Peterik project Pride of Lions you can never live without.

Recommended for wide range of pop rock fans young and old."
Trillion: Clear Approach for Another Album?

"Back in the mid-80's, I was at a Taste of Chicago concert that had Graham Nash playing as my primary objective to see. One of the opening acts was WILD BLUE and this was even better than Nash! I immediately set out to locate anything about this band and of course immediately purchased the album NO MORE JINX. While looking at more albums at PLAYBACK (The Electronic Playground) I see an album with an outstanding photo of the moon over a desolete highway called CLEAR APPROACH by Trillion, and also note that it has the same guitar player: Frank Barbalace! After having seen Frank play in WILD BLUE, I'm thinking, this has to be good...and is! So I picked up the first, self-titled album as well, and also the Japanese imports from Amazon a few years ago. Recently, also from Amazon, I picked up the remastered CLEAR APPROACH and it sounds better than ever, but the bonus track YOU CLOWN is worth the price of admission! Now I hear that a reunion is in the works, and possibly a third TRILLION release, coupled with a tour! I am flat out excited about this, and I wish the band well, and please know this: even at my age, I will be out there screaming with the rest of all of the new found fans! I look forward to the next chapter of TRILLION! It seemed odd that this band fell off the face of the earth, as it seemed that the second album held so much promise for a third. Look, albums from the 80's don't get released very often, and only if the demand is there, so you fans of TRILLION snap this one up while you can, and leave the next slot open in your "T" section of CD's!"
