CD Reviews

Another solid work by DJ Scott Stubbs...
SunSpot | Los Angeles | 10/17/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've been following this guy for a little while now...he puts out some solid mixes. This CD is no different from the others--great build, from beginning to end. This one will definitely appeal to fans of female vocals and epic trance alike. From the beginning, this CD doesn't pull any punches. There's a great buildup to song 4 ("Janeiro", my personal favorite), and it kind of rockets off from there to the final two songs, which feature some fantastic raw arpeggiated rhythms.Definitely looking forward to more stuff like this...do yourself a favor and go out and get a copy A.S.A.P. :)!"
I am hooked!!

"I am a newcomer to this genre, unless you consider Delerium's "Semantic Spaces" and "Karma" progressive trance (I also have Robert Miles's "Dreamland" and Tangerine Dream's "Dream Mixes" which are labeled "dance" not "trance"). After listening to "Trance Vertigo" I am definitely hooked! The infectious beats and superb melodies have won me over, so much so that I have been searching through countless trance cds and have ordered several highly recommended DJ Mixes ("Tranceport," "Euphoria Ibiza," "Northern Exposure," and "Intuition").I was very impressed with the flawless mixing on this cd. The 13 tracks run together perfectly and the selection is simply amazing. Mr. Stubbs avoids repetitious sounds, resulting in a desire to listen to it again and again. You can leave your finger off from the skip button on your remote, for there are no fillers on this cd. I'm not saying that I loved every track, but each one has its own redeeming qualities. My favorites were tracks 1-5 and tracks 11 and 12, and out of those 7 I absolutely loved tracks 1 ("Shine"), 2 ("Ocean of Emotion"), 4 ("Janeiro"), and 12 ("The Sun").If this review whets the appetite of anyone to give this a listen, I will have achieved my goal. Mr. Stubbs, if you happen to check this review, I have 2 things to say to you: excellent job and keep up the good work!"
