Product Description

The Verdant Mile is a seven song all-acoustic EP with two originals and five beautifully chosen covers. The title track is a poignant yet upbeat meditation on loss and survival, written by Grammer to address the 2002 passing of her musical partner, Dave Carter. VM also includes a rollicking fiddle medley and lovingly-performed covers of songs by such respected artists as Kieran Kane and Carole King. VM was recorded live in an Oregon studio over two days, and features Jim Henry on mandolin, mandola, dobro and vocals.

Tracy and Jim's first mini CD

"With THE VERDANT MILE Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry released the first in an ongoing series of mini-CDs. Each CD has at least one original tune by either Grammer, Henry, or Dave Carter, but mostly consist of covers.

The original in this case is the Grammer penned "Verdant Mile", a song about carrying on after Dave Carter's death, and the solace she found walking through a field near their home in Oregon. It's a beautiful and moving song and stylistically similar to the music on FLOWER OF AVALON.

The two best covers on this CD are easily THIS DIRTY LITTLE TOWN by Kieran Kane and SOLITARY MAN by Neil Diamond. Yes that Neil Diamond - Grammer will blow you away by how makes these songs her own.

The other songs are good, but these are the three that keep bringing me back.
