Synopsis

Album Description
Ophelia's Shadow is an album that contains numerous co-writes with Toyah's husband Robert Fripp, as well as collaborations with erstwhile King Crimson bassist Trey Gunn, and the critically acclaimed Tony Geballe. It is fitting then that this album was one of a pair returned to Toyah as part of the settlement between Robert Fripp and Virgin after a lengthy legal battle between Robert and his former label and management company - the label and Management company shared by Toyah. Distinctively Toyah, she delivers an album that is challenging and yet enticing. Originally released 1991 on EG Records, this recording hasn't been available for some time. Its reissue has been long awaited by Toyah fans and King Crimson completists alike.

CD Reviews

Toyah enters the realms of Prog Rock
Matthew West | Atlantic Canada | 12/08/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Musically and lyrically this album is the close cousin of the other Toyah/Fripp collaboration, Sunday All Over the World. While the latter is definitely the brainchild of Fripp and his soon to be pals in King Crimson, Ophelia's Shadow seems to be the perfect marriage of Toyah's Pop Opera style and Fripp's Soundscapes. The pop sensibilities mellow the Proggish nature of Fripp and result in a wonderfully accessible collection of songs. Toyah delivers some of her most interesting Post Punk lyrics to date."
