But this album was a big letdown. I didn't like the way he repeated the same vocal samples -- OK in some situations but these were not wise selections because they leave you hanging, wondering what the rest of the conversation was about. I found this to be very irritating the first time I listened to the album on earphones. Another thing I was disappointed with was the lack of instrumental or vocal performances. There was no musicianship in this album, only background beats, chord structure, and decorative samples. The entire album was pure backup with no starring performance." They create wonderful rich musical spaces without a lot of lyrics. In much the same way the Propellerheads were masters of creating big-beat frenetic anthems keying on their masterful use of drums and bass lines, Tosca is able to drive their version of downtempo tracks without overly relying on too much "background" noise. Just listen to the first track and you will get a feel for the album.
