Synopsis

Album Description
The first ever compilation to feature each and every one of the Epic masters of this genuine American Legend. Long before the break of Dawn, Tony Orlando was the voice of many of the greatest pop records of the early 1960s. The demos he cut for the likes of the Drifters and Ben E King are the stuff of legend. His own records - all written, arranged and produced by the biggest names in Brill Building pop - are still stunning after more than 40 years. This package features the A and B sides of all 11 of Tony's Epic 45s, plus five tracks that were exclusive to his one and only album for the label. Contributors to these sessions include Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Jack Keller, Cynthia Weil, Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. The package is handsomely illustrated with label shots of each and every one of Tony's singles and the original Epic album. A fabulous instant history of post-Rock`n'Roll American Pop, without a Yellow Ribbon anywhere in sight.

CD Reviews

Great and nostalgic

(5 out of 5 stars)

"What a great voice is that of Tony Orlando - a voice and phrasing which even influenced The Beatles; when I saw The Beatles all those years ago they opened their set with Beautiful Dreamer using the same arrangement as the version on this CD; also a really great song is here which I thought had been lost forever 'Chills.'

Oh there are one or two songs in there for the ride but by and large a really great album from one of the best voices ever in pop."
