Synopsis

Album Description
Tony de la Rosa is among the most important figures in the development of the modern (post-1940s) conjunto style. Innovations which he introduced (such as the use of drum set, electric bass, and amplification) were widely adopted, and his pioneering work inspired a whole generation of musicians. Although he is still in great demand around the country, he is in semi-retirement and performs rarely, making this new album, recorded by conjunto fanatic and fellow accordionist Carl Finch of Brave Combo, even more special.

Move that coffee table! Let's dance!
Laura Bodoia | Seattle, WA | 03/19/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wow, did this album take me home...to Brownsville, Texas,my parent's home town, and to the great Yakima Valley. That's the kind of music I grew up listening to...great tejano music. I actually did move the coffee table after hearing "Asi se baila en Tejas" (This is how you dance in Texas).Tony de la Rosa's accordian just doesn't stop and neither will your feet when you slap this one on your player. Hold on to your jalapeno nena."
