CD Reviews

Not simply a compilation

"Made in USA in 2000, Serial# HSR-1020-2, Playing Time 70:09This CD contains a blend of 9 previously released "as is" tracks, 4 alternate versions (not simply remixed) with somewhat heavier arrangements (track 7 originally on "For You", tracks 11+12+13 originally on "Cold War Kids"), and 3 previously unreleased tracks (tracks 8+15+16). The sound quality is impeccable, and much "richer" than his previous album, "The Boystown Tapes".The intensity and genres vary quite a bit, making this an interesting profile of TC, which unfortunately doesn't feature any track from his 5 more electronic ventures under various pseudonyms of 1980. However, we get treated to a hard-to-find song (track 6, which is taken from the soundtrack to the German TV-Series "Wilde Westen Inclusive").There's enough stuff on here to make the purchase worthwhile to the TC fan, showcasing most of the multiple facets of this multi-instrumentalist: from folk-based to rock, there's something on this album for almost anyone to enjoy."
Finally a Good Break in Greatest Hits

"...When I purchased this cd here on Amazon, the cost when it home was outrageous, but the more I've listened to the cd, I realized this cd is definately worth its price. The first thing that immediatly hits your ears is the quality and production thats been put into this cd. The songs picked, as it is a greatest hits/best of, were picked from the best, with the exception of a few, even though "Man Camera" was never released, I believe it should have stayed in Tony's vault in Mallorca, Spain. The Demos are nothing really exceptional, but still worth being included in with the rest. This cd, is for the Tony Carey fans but more so for the lost minions. If this cd were to be put on the market, and with many of the tracks included, even a Planet P Project hit, would, instantly upon one play, remember all over who one of the worlds finest singers/songwriter is. Your average person wouldnt upon hearing the name Fine Fine Day (For a Reunioun), but the minute they hear, bang. The memories come flooding back. Tony Carey is buried in the back of everyone out there who was 20 or so when I Wont Be Home Tonight came out, and then a couple albums later he was gone. Anyway, only things that have been repeated, two greatest hits to offer up, a '97 release in Germany called "A Fine Fine Day" fabulous line up of songs, but hard to find, even here on Amazon its listed as limited availability, that means "Hardly Likely, but we'll Try" (From Experience With Other TC cds) and now this cd in a sense fills the gaps of that one. Easy 2 cd best of....
Hey Just my opinion, thats my story and I'm stickin' to it!!"

"I bought this cd not to long ago and found it be a good cd. It has all the stuff from the 80's which was played on the air except for west coast summer nights. The material afterward is good too especially tramopline and 20 days."
