CD Reviews

One of the best CDs in Latin Pop Music

(5 out of 5 stars)

"1. "Vinito Pa'l Corazon"(Wine for the heart)- 5/5 First song on the album, and its one of the best. When I first heard it, I did not like it that much but it grows on you. It has really colloquial lyrics and a really nice rhythm. It is perfect for a night out with friends. "Y para que vivir la vida con tanta prisa, si el final siempre es el mismo? Yo digo quedate una ronda mas, que manana ya veremos!" Also, the title of the album appears hear as background vocals.

2. Sigo aqui "Im still here"- 5/5 One of my favorite songs by Tommy and one of the best in this CD. It's a sad story but told with great honesty and feeling. I especially love the guitar in this song and the way Tommy sings it. "Sigo aqui, sigo hablando de ella en todas mis canciones"

3. "Se apaga el sol" (The sun turns off)- 4/5 This album originally was realed in 2004 and I think it took me a few years to like this song. It's similar to "Vinito pa'l Corazon" but it has is authenticity. It's still not one of my favorite but I have come to really like it especially the part were he says "Si el mundo volviera a empezar, serias mi Eva y yo tu Adan, me iba a yo a encargar de que volvieras a pecar"

4. "Dame esta noche" (Give me this night) 4/5- Second single off the album and probably the most "radio-friendly" single. It's the one you would sing along in the car. It's a nice strong ballad.

5. "Besos y Sal" (Kisses and salt) 5/5 The best song to hear at the beach. IT is the best upbeat song Tommy has and one of his best overall. He has a sexy way of singing and his lyrics help him too.

6. "Un poquito" (A little bit)4/5 Another nice, slow ballad. I like the honesty of the lyrics and the simpleness overall.

7. "De Rodillas" (At my knees) 5/5 First single off the album. Upbeat with a reggae beat but very signature Tommy lyrics. It's the first song I ever heard from him. I can even remember the first time I heard it. I got hooked immediately.

8. "Meteoro" (Meteor) 4/5- Dark ballad. Its not the one you'll first love, but you'll like it after a while.

9. "Mariana y Angelina"- It continues the reggae sounds of "De Rodillas" while he describes two girls (who are, if I recall correctly, his niece and god-child) Probably the song I least like although I like it. It simply falls short compared to the other ones.

10. "Corazon Remendado" 4/5 A slow ballad that seems so honest and pure that simply brings you to tears. "SI no te he dicho que te amor es que por miedo no te he dicho que te amo"

11. "Me cuesta tanto olvidarte" (It's so hard to forget you) 4/5 This is Tommy's cover of Mecano's song. It is good because it is very different from the original.
