CD Reviews

Amazing

"I've always enjoyed Tommy Bolin's work, but this record takes it to a whole new level. I've had this in my car for three weeks straight and it's still blowing me away on a daily basis. The playing on this record is just flat-out inspired. It's not just the guitar either--the drumming and bass guitar are incredible as well. This is possibly the best guitar-oriented rock album I've ever heard. If you are a fan of classic rock, especially classic rock guitar, trust me: you NEED this."
Must Have Album

"I listened to Tommy in college after his passing and had lost the vinyl as the years unfurled. I was always amazed at his reach in musical styles...and he made them all very likeable. Anyway this album seems to have come out of nowhere, offering up the very best stuff he did in my opinion. It sounds like it was just made last week with the latest technology. What a tragic loss it was to have Tommy die at such a young age. May ask what Hendix would have done with his years had he survived...listen to this album and you will have the same thoughts about Tommy."
The Apex of Bolin's Creative Powers

"The first of a pair of single album releases chronicling the Teaser sessions, the Bolin family made this authorized release truly a labor of love.

The 10 tracks - clocking in at 78:16 - include five alternate takes to songs that made it on the album, tracks from the sessions and live material. Teaser (1975) was Tommy Bolin's debut solo effort, but it was released at the time of Deep Purple's Come Taste the band. Bolin played guitar for Deep Purple and his contractual commitment prohibited to embark on a tour to promote his album. He did perform one cut from the album during DP shows.

The Teaser tracks are the title cut, Wild Dogs, Savannah Woman, Marching Powder and Dreamer. Fandango, Cookoo and Flyin' Fingers are from the recording sessions, with the live gems - Just Don't Fall Down, Blowin' Your Cookies - being nearly 23 minutes of sizzling guitar licks.

Blowin' Your Cookies was recorded at Bolin's penultimate show in December 1976. He would pass away at the age of 26 on December 4. The collection features Bolin at the apex of his creative powers before the personal demons seized control of his life.
