CD Reviews

Great music and singer but shameful production.

"Tina Turner is one of the best singers in music history and has been working for over 40 years. This year she released a very successful double cd greatest hits album named "ALL THE BEST" that contains 90% of her hits plus 3 brand new recordings. The album debuted at #2 in the U.S and went Platinum in a month. Very good deal but now this new greatest hits is released some months after and it's simply shameful. It contains some of her biggest hits but come on, where's the Top 15 hit and Grammy Award winner "ONE OF THE LIVING" which isn't on any Tina recopilatory?. The only song from here that doesn't appear on "ALL THE BEST" is "LOOK ME IN THE HEART" which is good but only one song, that can be also find in ther 1991 recopilatory "SIMPLY THE BEST". I should have added the 1996 smash "WHATEVER YOU WANT" or "DON'T TURN AROUND" from the B side of the "TYPICAL MALE" single, just to mention a song.

The booklet from "ALL THE BEST" was weak and this one contains the same pictures and info. No further info from Tina's carreer, no charts history, no nothing.

That's my comment for any Tina fan or just the people who don't consider themselves as fans but follow her music. If you want to have something from Tina or just a recopilatory, I'd recommend the original "ALL THE BEST" with the two cd's that besides having much more songs, the price is very good."
Espresso version of All the best

"This is the 4th Tina Turner compilation released by EMI/Capitol and the problem is that it offers nothing extra. We get the same songs all over again. They squeezed the biggest hits of "All the best" on one disc. A very disappointing and weak release."
Simply Could've Been More

"Earlier in the year, there was a real vast amount of several different greatest hits packages that made it onto the record shelves. While so many acts have shown those true colors like Donna Summer Gold, Genesis: The Platinum Collection, and others, Tina Turner also came out with a highly successful package. The double album All The Best, was arguably the most definitive as you could've imagined of one of the most sexy divas of all time. Yet, if that wasn't enough, there was word of mouth that a similar package of All The Best was released. Yet, while the double record hits the jackpot, the single one loses strides.

All The Best: The Hits is a compact version of Tina Turner's 2005 All The Best package. The album does lose a bit of momentum by squeezing a highly remarkable double record, into half of the process on a single CD. The compilation does still include a lot of Tina's biggest hits like It's Only Love With Bryan Adams, What's Love Got To Do With It, We Don't Need Another Hero from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and her 1993 hit I Don't Wanna Fight. While the collection does fair very well, there still are some great tracks that were highly overshadowed that could've been placed like the seductive Bond movie track Goldeneye, When The Heartache Is Over, and others to name a few.

Still, All The Best: The Hits does carry well for anybody who doesn't own a Tina Turner release, but for die hard Tina fans, you are really just better off with the full length double album.
