Recorded over the course of 22 years between 1979 and 2001, this two CD collection of recordings gathers together all the J.S. Bach recordings for guitar, from across six disparate labels, committed to record and disc by German guitarist and Bach scholar Tilman Hoppstock (b. 1961). Trained as a guitarist and cellist, Mr. Hoppstock has toured in over 40 countries as a soloist and chamber musician. He has devoted a portion of his approximately 30 CDs to the works of early and late baroque composers. His doctoral dissertation, Polyphony in the Lute Works of Bach, was published in 2014.
