Synopsis

Album Description
"Butler?s performances are idiomatically on the mark, and so atmospheric that one can almost smell the incense." - FANFARE This recording, the first on the new Paul Fritts organ at St. Mark?s Cathedral, Seattle, documents the inaugural recitals given on the instrument in 2003. The new Paul Fritts organ embodies many of the aesthetic principles that represent a return to the core elements that personified the "golden age" of organ building exemplified by such noted historical organ builders as Arp Schnitger and Andreas Silbermann. The works on the program were chosen to showcase the organ?s unique qualities.
