Perchance to Dream...

"Thomas Kinkade's beautiful art is enough to make one thankful for such a god to allow one man to express himself religiously in his own way. Called the Artist of light, it is fascinating to look at all of his various styles of painting, but I especially like the pastels he uses for Springtime, like the one on this album cover. He is master at what he does, but how does it include music?

George Beverly Shea is the master of hymn singing, though Ernie Ford and Jim Nabors also have lovely CDs of gospel singing, as do the Lawrence Welk singers of which many were as good as Shea. My favorites are scattered among the differing offerings, so I chose this album with the spectacular cover to represent them all. As a young Baptist child, I was taken with "This Little Light" as he sang in his favorites CD, but as he was a Methodist, as I am, we gravitate to the more serious religious songs to include in our rituals prior to and after the preaching of Paul' Only at Christmas did our pastors used Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. I liked "Peace in the Valley," "Let There Be Peace on Earth," "Lily of the Valley," and many others. The older hymns which Shea sang so beautifully. Yes, I like Kinkade, but my friend Amanda loves his art and collects it in all its many varieties. I don't know what her religious affiliation is or what music she likes, but this is one we have shared and enjoyed together."
