CD Reviews

WOW, what a surprise
Daniel B. Honigman | 04/06/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had never heard of these guys before I ran into a promo copy of their album. Third Sight's style is like a mix between MF Doom's randomness and outside-the-lines flow, and Eminem's (early) sense of humor.

I'm feeling this, and there are several tracks on here that will blow your mind, from the opening track, "Hypothermia", to the mix of vocals and beatboxing on "UCP"...man, I just don't know what to say.

COP THIS ALBUM!!"

As a fan, I was a little dissapointed to see Third Sight's 'Symbionese Liberation Album' lack so many details on its page. Well, there's the track listing, whatever good it may do.

A release by several members of the (now defunct) Invisible Skratch Pickles, 'Symbionese Liberation Album' features the same catchy lyrical style and fresh beats that we as fans have come to expect. If you're a fan of Third Sight, the Pickles or just turntablism and hip-hop, be sure to check this album out."
Hip Hop Album of the Year!
Chuck | 04/18/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album should be given serious consideration for album of the year, though I'm afraid the masses may sleep on these guys yet again. This is the followup to the late 90's cult classic collectible "Golden Shower Hour," and it does not disappoint in any way. I have been feeling more and more apathetic about underground hiphop as each year goes by, except possibly for MF Doom - there really hasn't been much to get real excited about ... until now that is. With DJ D-Styles (formerly of Invisibl Skratch Piklz) and Dufunk on production and scratch duties and mind-boggling flows from emcee Roughneck Jihad, we're already onto something special, but this album is even better than that if you can believe it. The flows are conscious without ever getting preachy, funny without being corny, street without being false and trite - how Jihad manages it is beyond me. This emcee has FLOWS and intelligence like I haven't seen ... possibly ever. The production is deep, dirty, dramatic and brimming with attitude. They've brought in some guests on this album (MF Grimm, Hobo Junction, Rhettmatic, Ricci Rucker and a few others), yet it's clear from the Third Sight-only tracks (which is actually most of the tracks on the LP) that these guys can still hold it down all on their own ... hopefully for years to come, if enough people get behind them. DON'T SLEEP, GET THIS ALBUM WHILE THE GETTING IS GOOD .... real heads know how hard it is to get their hands on the old releases, so err on the side of caution and get this NOW."
