CD Reviews

Good tribal album, but it could have been so much more.

"For some reason, tribal house/trance/techno hasn't been too popular, despite many rave reviews from many people. This album is a great tribal album, yet it seems lacking. Being a huge tribal fan (and a DJ who spins some tribal when I can), I was salivating at the chance to get more music of this genre. Although it is said to be music to do the dirty to, it's not as good as Marvin Gaye, Barry White, or Isaac Hayes because at times it's just too crass (lyrics like "I want to f*ck you in the ass" or "You like it long, you like it hard, you like it dark"). Provided that it's supposed to be for sex, it should be a little more subtle and less overt with its messages (for instance, in "Orgasm" there is a woman crying out in extacy- why do I need to hear this coming from my stereo when I'm having sex?)

With that point aside, let's talk about the musical content- most of the album sounds the same. I feel like it starts out strong ("Touch the Sky" was definately my favorite track), but tapers off near the middle and by the end it just turns into mindless, bass heavy music. Many of the female vocals that appear in the middle of the album don't sound like they belong- this is supposed to be tribal house, not vocal trance. And in the end I feel that it could have been so much better than it was.

I would tentatively recommend this album. If you are a fan of tribal house, then this is a good addition to your music library, but I am hesitant to recommend this album to anyone who isn't really into tribal. If you are looking to buy a tribal album and you're not into tribal, I would look elsewhere than this album."

"What a form! This is what I call "Inteligent house music" producet with much love. Starting from first 2 da last track, I just can`t stop moovin! It has everything, from dark tech-house and some deep progressive sounds, to the finest classic house tracks all put together in very nice selection. I remember the first bootleg of "Welcome to the jungle" before two year and it just makes me dance till I drop. + The material that came to me was on double LP and it has 2 BONUS tracks "Wet" and "Theme".
Basicly the best house album in last 6 months.

Sex Music

"This is basically background music for sex. Excellently produced and mixed, E-Smoove never loses sight of the album's direction, ie. sexual arousal. Heavy bass, juicy, persistent tribal rhythms, some live sex thrown in; what more do you want? Like he says on one of the tracks, it is 'highly contagious.'"
