Synopsis

Product Description
In a world of color-by-numbers pop performed by painted faces and hand-picked record company doll babies, Pittsburgh's The Takeover UK stand in sharp relief. They are unabashedly pop, though their punk attitude comes shining through. Thick power chords and snotty vocals
that teeter between sugar and snarl collide against a thick, Spector-like wall of sound fulfilling the promises of Johnny Thunders and the Ronnettes. Hints of '70s glitter put a coat of high-gloss on their blue-collar work ethic, but there is no concealing their guts. The Takeover UK has what it takes: an astonishing ability to craft scores of great songs that make people move. "Pop is not a dirty word," says guitarist Mark. "We are chasing the perfect pop single."

"What an Amazing EP. Found this band on myspace, and instantly loved what I heard. I streamed the album last week and bought my own copy the next day. I have a feeling we are going to be hearing a lot from this band in the future!!"

"Not keen to embrace the dreaded freshman slump, The Takeover UK has produced a mind-blowing album that has them stepping up their soul game once again. Joints like the head-nodder "Ah La La" are in the mix to satisfy the movers and the shakers; but this album really leans towards that sultry, after-hours vibe so often demonstrated by the pioneers of the post-punk era. On "Sick of Love", powerhouse vocals practically purr all over the alluring slow jam, while "Oh You're Nothing" blushes with sexual innuendo. When they're not in the seductive mood though, they like to sketch out the trivialities of modern day relationships with plenty of style and class. Dr. Ruth take note; this is Sex in the City, Pittsburgh style."
