Top form Sands Family

"The Sands Family have long been known and loved as one of the seminal bands in the Irish folk revival beginning in the late 1960s. Two albums here, both recorded in the 1970s in Germany, where the Sands Family have something like legendary status. The "Winds" is a studio album featuring the talents of Eugene "Dino" Sands, tragically killed in an autobahn accident in 1975 while the "Live" album was recorded just one year later. Altogether a wonderful mixture of traditional and contemporary songs, political, humourous and reflective - with some cracking instrumentals thrown in for good measure. I've been listening to the vinyl versions for years and now delighted to be the proud owner of this great double CD.
