"There are several aspects of this album which are refreshing. The first, and most noticable, is that Mikey, the lead singer, can actually sing. With depth and range, his voice is nothing short of gorgeous. The second is that stylistically, the album covers several different genres (pop, gothic, rock, to name a few) but it never comes across that they arent quite sure what their sound is. They seemed to have achieved that elusive balance of 'smart' music while maintaining the musical prowess to be taken seriously, and having an accessible sound.
The quick favorites are Safe and Sound, The Arsonists, and Your Guns, but extended listening will have you putting Twinkle on repeat and humming Starletta around the house.
