CD Reviews

The Moon shine bright on their debut CD
Zepplyn | Rushville, Illinois USA | 07/29/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I really have to hand it to Andrew and Don, formerly of the rock band Sleeze Beez. They have left behind most of their 80s "hair-band" leanings (not that there's anything wrong with that - I love 80's metal) and come up with something more melodic and lasting. Their new band, The Moon, take note from a lot of bands I like (Cheap Trick, Head East, The Posies, Enuff Z'Nuff, and Poison) yet somehow sound fresh and have a style all of their own. From the all out rock of "Have You Ever?" and "I'll Come Around", the mid-Beatles influenced "What is It?", the Byrds stylings of "Sunrise", to the country rock of "All the Same to Me", this is one CD you'll keep in your player for a long while. The only misstep, "Fashion Louse" (which closes the album), isn't that bad, it's an odd yet amusing little ditty that reminds you of the songs you would hear on Monty Python's Flying Circus (i.e., "The Lumberjack Song"). It just seems out of place with the rest of the album. We can forgive them this one little guilty pleasure because the rest of the album puts to shame the work of their peers."
