NOT Appropriate for Kids !
Arielle's Rose | Santa Ana, CA United States | 05/16/2005
(2 out of 5 stars)

".

I was horrified to see this recording grouped with recordings for children by several music dealers. Don't be fooled by the category or title. You would have to be a moron or a pervert to believe this compilation is suitable for kids.

These are fun songs... for grown-ups! Some have very ADULT --and in some cases, downright unwholesome-- themes. Exhibit: "Material Girl," "Who Let the Dogs Out," "Teeny Weenie Bikini" and "Tequila". Yes, booze. (This one was probably included because of its association with Pee Wee Herman).

Some of the others, such as, "Give Me Your Heart", "YMCA," "Independent Woman" and "Charlie Brown" (Who's always poopin' in the hall? --This is not about the Peanuts character) have homosexual innuendo or lyric subtexts dealing with teenage mischief, dating, mating, and other mature issues.

If this collection was intended for kids, it was somebody's SICK IDEA about how to rob your kids of their innocence and childhood. You won't find "I'm a Little Teapot" or "Itsy Bitsy Spider" here.

With the exception of the musical theatre classics, "Do Re Mi" (The Sound of Music) and "Tomorrow" (Annie), I can't think of any other songs here that were originally sung "by kids". Most of these tunes should not be heard by kids, let alone sung by them.

Are you looking for a great adult party collection for 1:00 in the morning, when your guests are stumbling around wearing your lampshades? If so, this collection is for you. I think the only frat party sing-along classic missing from this set is "Louie Louie".
