Have you heard the word? Shhhhh, the word is Thin . It s been in our minds and now it will be in yours. Thin represents a year of hard work for The Histrioniks. It is a pivotal and transitional album. Why? First and foremost, the sonic quality. You the listener will be struck in a profound way. Minimalism! Organic! Garage! Sounds like the 60 s man! These are some of the first impressions voiced by listeners just like yourselves. All of the above are true of course but Thin is so much more. After About This Girl and it s more over-the-top, pro-tooled,, layered vocals etc., The Histrioniks consciously chose to flip things - upside down and all around. To begin with, the art work is in black and white and reflects the minimalism and tonality of the songs within. We recorded all the instruments on analog tape. Ah, the warmth! So fuzzy you want to lie next to it. The performances are organic - each song has it s own unique fingerprint. There were no templates used to make all the songs sound the same. Drums were recorded to fit the song. Guitars the same. The vocals ride slightly above the instrumentation and sound intertwined. And each song was mixed independently of the previous song. The result once you sink back in your easy chair? Aural bliss - honest and sincere performances. The Histrioniks set out to make their third album fit somewhere between the dark, introspective minimalism of Homesick From The Grave and the power pop of About This Girl . The Histrioniks sound is still present; dark, introspective but there is a cohesiveness of sound and melody that trumps any of their previous musical projects.
