The Gerard Edery Ensemble's Amid the Jasmine is filled with a multi-cultural spirit conveyed through an eclectic mix of songs in Ladino, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew from the Sephardic and Middle Eastern traditions, as well as original songs by Gerard Edery. The worldly nature of this performance goes much deeper than language. Edery's warm and nuanced vocals are enhanced by the ensemble's pulsing rhythms and virtuosic playing, their stylistic improvisations and arrangements providing an authenticity this music demands.
