CD Reviews

Lost treasure found!
Larry Roundtree | Trenton, NJ | 06/14/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Some of the smoothest vocals of the 60's and 70's old school reminiscent of groups like the Delfonics, Stylistics, Main Ingredient, just to name a few powerhouse masters of the slow groove and soulful funk! If you remember the charm of "the ice cream song", then you will truly delight to songs like "what a shame" and "baby, baby I love you." The songs sound clear, crisp and just as familiar as yesterday. Give a listen. Your heart and mind will soar."
70s Sweet Soul Songs abound.....!
William Blackshear | West Orange, NJ USA | 02/09/2006

"Ballads laden. The bottom line is, countless killer soul & sweet soul songs were produced throughout the late 60s and into the early 80s, countless never reached the level of an album release, those remain hunted as sought after 45s. Numerous soul vocal groups fortunate enough to get an album(s) release, still were unfortunate enough not to receive any significant radio airplay, despite the quality of their recordings. Obscurity to most became their fate. Although the groups may have not gotten their true "due" at the time, foreign record companies, based on demand from soul/sweet soul audiophiles, came to the States, sought to find those holding the rights and studio tapes to these lost classics, and when located, and successful deals cut, the import reissue cds that reached market (typically foreign markets first, and sometimes only), are the results of those projects. This cd, which is loaded with high tenor ballads contains the music of the Detroit natives only 70s album ("What A Shame" - on Black Gold Records), a highly sought after lp from the 80s on. Their only other lp, late 60s, ("First Landing" - Cotillion Records, which contains the sought after ballad "Ice Cream Song")is also a rare collectible album. This UK issued cd is high quality and loaded, and has had it's contract run, it is out of print. Last copies of this cd are what's on the market now. Japan's P-Vine label secured the new contract to reissue the Black Gold recordings again. We trust the new cd will be availible world wide. The classic balladry of the Dynamics are a must in any soul/sweet soul music collection of depth. "What A Shame" if this music is not in one's soul/sweet soul music portfolio!"
THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BIG STARS
T. Watkins | Detroit, MI | 07/13/2007

"What can I say that you won't agree with once you hear these Detroit natives. There harmonies are crisp, all the lead singers bring something new and dynamic to the material. Highly recommend this group and their relatively small body of work to anyone who loves to listen to the backround vocals as well as lead singers, who like funk soul, blues and gospel, and who remembers a time when music was about love and admiration and not just sex."
