Synopsis

Album Description
Keep On Pushing LP / Pushed (Keep on Pushing Remixed) In June 2001 The Black Seeds released their Gold-selling debut album Keep On Pushing on Wellington-based record label Loop Recordings Aotearoa. Acclaimed in all quarters, Keep On Pushing was the subject of rave reviews and extensive airplay. Songs like Keep On Pushing, Hey Son? and Coming Back Home received massive b.net support and reached the top spots of the station's listener-voted charts as well as receiving regular airplay on National Radio, Channel Z and other commercial stations. In 2001 Keep On Pushing was voted among Rip It Up magazine's Top 50 Albums Of The Year? and the album has since gone on to become a top seller. In October 2002, The Black Seeds' debut album was skilfully reworked and reshaped by some of the country's leading producers into the remix album Pushed. Jet Jaguar's Coming Back Home remix reached No.1 on the New Zealand b.net charts and the album went on to sell well throughout the country. Through a special 2 CD set you can get both of these amazing dub-reggae albums.

CD Reviews

Awesome groovin' music
A. Rice | USA | 11/22/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was referred to the album by a friend and it is so worth it. The two CD set is a great mix of reggae, funk, jazz, and dub. Not something that is widely available in America. Those Kiwis really know how to make the groovin' music.

Keep on Pushing has the original form of all the songs on it. The album has some groovy instrumental sections - great drum beats and funky jazz brass portions. Great vocal work on all of the tracks. My favorite tracks are Dance Dance, Little Atoms, and Hey Son. Funk Factor 9

Pushed is the remixed version of Keep on Pushing. The mixing done is awesome. There are a couple of different mixes for some of the songs and they are all unique. Same great drum beats, brass sections, and vocal work with some funky atmospheres added. The remixes make you want to get your funky dance moves on. Even more so than the Keep on Pushing, if that is possible. Favorite tracks are Keep On Pushing ( 50Hz remix ), Black Sunrise ( House Of Shem remix ), Black Swandri ( Black Sunrise - 100 Plastic Knives vs The Video Kid remix ), Almost Home ( Coming Back Home - Jet Jaguar remix ), Your Sunrise ( In Your Eyes/Black Sunrise - mute/hummle re:mangle ), and a couple more. :) Funk Factor 10

Overall, if you are in the mood to try something non-mainstream, you should definitely get this album."
