CD Reviews

Classic Bangles
Frank Gaertner | Atlanta GA USA | 09/01/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Bangles return with an album and single that are of a piece with their 1980s music. "Something That You Said", the lead single from their album "Doll Revolution", is a quiet ballad in some ways similar to "Eternal Flame" but without the big production ending. Susannah Hoffs has never sounded more affecting than on the chorus, when she soars on the lines, "Something that you said turned me from the inside out / Running through my head, something I have dreamed about." The Bangles have grown and matured both as songwriters and performers, so this tune benefits from their time off. The single is one of their best songs, in my opinion, and the whole CD is equally good. I highly recommend it."
Beautiful music

"The Bangles are back with a great CD in "Doll Revolution," and both the title track and "Something That You Said" prove that their songwriting and musicianship is better than ever. Their music is fun, melodic, catchy, sentimental and anything but ordinary. I recommend both the single and the entire album! I hope it gets the airplay it deserves."
