CD Reviews

The most underrated band EVER!
the_dude108 | London | 03/09/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It is such a shame that this brilliant band were (and still are) so unfairly overlooked.
Formed from the ashes of the Undertones, they rose like an indie/pop phoenix well before Oasis and Blur etc. hit the scene and became mega successful! This album is their last and my favourite. Every song is a gem; the catchiness of 'Detonate My Dreams', the heaviness of 'Catch A Fire', the great riff of 'Last of the True Believers', the simply great song-writing on 'Infinate Thrill', 'Speed of Light', 'Shangri-La' and of course the rest of the album! This band were so original for their time; they were writing guitar-pop in the mid 80s when synth was king and they got no recognition but split before the music they pioneered became popular. They are respected by bands such as Radiohead, R.E.M, Sonic Youth, U2, Iggy Pop and David Bowie. Their influence is still audible today in many bands who cross indie with dance, rock and pop but they unfortunately STILL remain unsung a good 10 years later! Do this band a favour and buy this record along with Chemicrazy, Babble, Manic Pop Thrill and Final Flame."
