Synopsis

Album Description
Thara Memory's prodigious talent as a trumpet player and composer sparkles on this CD, which is made up in equal parts of material recorded "live" at the Hobbit in Portland, Oregon, and material recorded in the studio. The album was mixed down by the one and only late Eddie Harris, who subsequently recorded an album of his own for the Flying Heart label. This CD is original jazz at its modern best, with inspired performances by Thara and his able sidemen. Doc Severinsen was blown away and had some really nice things to say about this CD.

CD Reviews

Virtuoso work!!
Shaun S. Newson | Seattle,WA | 05/11/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This Album is amazing..simply outstanding...Captures the pure essence of jazz in all of its elborates shades and textures. It has an undeniable ability to set moods and tensions that other classic cd's of yesteryear could create, but it also gives the listener an avenue that leads to the pennacle of new contempary jazz. Thara memory is a virtuoso trumpter/composer/arranger/band leader that makes his home in portland, or.. He's known in virtually all jazz circles as being one of the greatest trumpeters of modern day jazz, and I'm proud to say one of the best people you'd ever want to meet.
Although many people on the national spectrum probably haven't heard the cd, "Juke Joint"; many have and many are finally getting the honor through on-line services of hearing jazz at its finest, coming from "Mr. Incognito" himself, Thara memory...10/10"
