Synopsis

Album Description
"On her amazing album Listen Love, [Tessa Souter] delivers powerful versions of nonstandards such as Pat Martino's "Willow" and Pharoah Sanders' complex "The Creator Has a Master Plan," in addition to her originals, all delivered in a crystal-clear voice with diamond-cut phrasing and a slight tinge of melancholy. She's a gem." (Phladelphia Inquirer) "Like Norma Winstone -- whose lyrics for Jimmy Rowles' "The Peacocks" she uses here - Souter understands what is needed to deliver a song .... Souter's singing style feels natural and organic -- her rich, dark voice combines with her ability to see the shape of a tune and so the words seem to come from her soul." CD Reviews

Listen and you'll love this cd!
Betty Boop | San Francisco Bay Area | 05/30/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I really love this cd! I first heard Tessa Souter when a friend took me to her gig in London a couple of years ago. Her voice is clear and beautiful, and her arrangements are wonderful with a hint of Moorish influence that is captivating. After listening to the cd, I loved it so much that I bought copies for some of my friends. at least 5 of them. Now I'm waiting for Tessa's next cd. If you're nearby when she's performing live, be sure to go hear her in person. She has a wonderful, relaxed manner, and you'll love her even more!"
An Exotic, Musical Feast
James Denson | Hempstead , NY | 07/31/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The word "exotic" is probably over-used to describe Tessa Souter's british, caribbean, and middle-eastern ancestry. However, it's a perfectly apt thing to call the spellbinding music on Listen Love, her debut CD. Besides her compelling physical beauty, gorgeously delicate vocal tone, and formidable musical range, I'm always captured by the instrumentation(bass, guitar, percussion) she uses to such mesmerizing effect. Caravan is the best case in point, and Souter's is my favorite vocal rendition of that song. She is one outstanding musician, and may her career trajectory continue upward."
