CD Reviews

"Guitar Man" could be Teddy's middle name....

"this record holds so much soul, so much powerful and honest energy that you just wanna cry out loud. teddy is a master of the guitar-- like the low-down-on-the-floor way he makes his guitar growl on "Walk Away Cryin'". Or how it cries on "I Ain't Waitin' No More"....these songs feel as though they were always written, like they were always out there but never before recorded. teddy is a like a bullet from a gun... he means what he says. bo ramsey produced this gold mine of music and also lays down some of his signature slide guitar tracks on "'59 Cadillac". this is a superb collection of blues/rock/roots/county -- do not miss out."
One of life's pleasant little surprises

"Recently in Phoenix for business, my colleagues and I were heading for the Rhythym Room to enjoy what was supposed to be an evening with blues guitarist Guitar Shorty. Well, when we arrived we discovered that, somehow, we got the dates wrong. So we decided to stick around just long enough to nurse our huge disappointment with a beer and a couple of songs from whomever was playing. Were our collective expectations for the evening so diminished that this bar band sounded THIS GOOD? How can a kid this young play a rockabilly and blues guitar this well?Teddy Morgan and the Pistolas--a GREAT bar band. Which, in my opinion, is a compliment. The bonus is that they translate well in the studio. I am pretty sure that, if things had gone as planned, I wouldn't have walked away from the evening holding one of Guitar Shorty's CDs. Heck , I don't think Shorty would ever be hawking his CDs to bar patrons between sets. I flew back to LA as the proud owner of Lost Love & Highways. It will not be removed from my car--ever!Three nights after Phoenix, I went to see the Pistolas on Ventura Blvd--just to see if lightning could strike twice. It did. Teddy, Chris, and John are for real."
An album worth discovering

"I was at a club earlier this year to check out some headliner (don't even remember them!) for whom Teddy Morgan was opening. I don't think I made it past his set. An amazing blend of rock, country, and that Texas twang thang. While I agree that the CD can be a bit all over the place, I don't know that with a band like this it's a detriment. Morgan is very accomplished with what he does and it shows. Having a scattered album only showcases his talent. If you're up for discovering something new, but somewhat familiar at the same time, you may have a winner here. Pick it up!!"
