CD Reviews

Another excellent album from Jestram and Lippok

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have read the reviews for Animals, Suns & Atoms and Silur, two different but equally great CD's. Most fans prefer Silur over Animals, I'm assuming because they heard Silur first and think it more "experimental" and "underground." The feeling I get is that most fans think that Animals is more accessible and, therefore, less "substantial" than Silur. Personally, I think Animals is a beautiful progression in their musical style. So, what does this have to do with the new CD, Dwellers on the Threshold?Comparatively, Dwellers is a little more accessible than Animals. So, if you are in the school of thought mentioned above, you may not be as enthusiastic about this CD as I. But, you will undoutedly like it because it is distinctively Tarwater. I think Dwellers on the Threshold is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. It is their most fluid CD to date and all tracks have the signature Tarwater hooks that make them one of my personal favorites.1. 70 rupies to paradise road- remniscent of han er der inne on 11|6 12|10, with the same sexy female German vocals
2. metal flakes- a very good song, but not one of my faves on the CD
3. diver- nice instrumental song in the vein of animals...
4. 1985- excellent track, excellent lyrics, excellent jazzy samples
5. be late- another beautiful instrumental
6. tesla- one of my favorite tracks, it is Tarwater at their best IMHO
7. now- my favorite Tarwater instrumental
8. miracle of love- i just LOVE the lyrics to this one
9. phin- quirky tarwater soundscapes, fun and nice
10. perfect shadow- "high heels, car wheels, all the losers are groovin".....a beautiful song
11. dogs and light tents- another one of my favorites on the disc
12. imperator victus- great closing track for the CDAll in all, this may well be my favorite Tarwater album as a whole. It simply glides through the speakers and into your cerbral cortex, awash in pusling mosaics. If you are a fan or if you are new to the band, this is essential to your collection ..."
