(4 out of 5 stars)

"Tanakh is the alter ego of Jessie Poe of Richmond Virginia(recently relocated to Florence, Italy according to comments in the liner notes). Dieu Deuil is a progression of Villa Claustrophobia. The overall ambience on both CDs evokes some of the hazy hallucinogen driven music coming out of San Francisco between 1965 and 1967 or so. Dieu Deuil features Jim White http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00026WT6A/qid=1090929690/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-2961448-5709505 more prominently than on the first CD. On Dieu Deuil, he's listed as playing guitars, keyboards, and percussion. Both CDs are awesome soundtracks for those special moments when the walls start breathing and patterns begin to emerge among the strange shadows flickering in a candle lit room. Dieu Deuil seems to be more violin and cello driven than Villa Claustrophobia, and for every day listening, at times this can get a little tiresome. But this music wasn't recorded on an ordinary day, and is best reserved for sailing into the mystic."
