NY's Tall Hands' self-defined genre "boat rock" takes inspiration in equal parts from Lou Reed's conversational delivery, the Rolling Stones' shambolic pop gems, and an afternoon spent with both blaring out of the overworked speakers of a boom box at the edge of the pier. Tall Hands' sound takes as much inspiration from Bryan Ferry and David Bowie as it does from the idealized boat rock lifestyle of the band's singer Justin Raisen - a collection of dreams that revolve around sunshine, blaring Harry Nilsson, and free-flowing vodka-cranberries on the deck of a weathered boat.
