"Tahiti 80 show great taste by covering The Left Banke's 'Desiree' and A.R.Kane's 'A Love From Outer Space' on this fantastic ep. They do a relatively note perfect version of 'Desiree' that feels like a respectful tribute and totally remake 'A Love From Outer Space' in their style and end up owning the song. The Cornelius remix of 'Heartbeat' is the best one he's done since he did Beck's 'Mixed Bizness', and that's saying a lot because the Beck remix is probably the best damn remix I've ever heard. Out of the many French bands operating in this vicinity these days, Tahiti 80 seems the most interested in just playing you a song and not going crazy in the studio trying to provide you with some kind of grand experience. They let the music speak for itself and don't drown it with Sgt.Pepper effects and Pro-Tools wizardry. Which isn't always a bad thing but these guys just reek of sincerity. This is just pure, beautiful sunny pop with no pretensions. If I were you, I'd see what all the fuss was about."
